Well, we’re getting there! It’s an upgrade from the patio chairs we were using 😄 and these @ikeausa sofa’s are actually amazing! P L O T T W I S T 📍 if you read the post on the blog “How I Handle Change” then you already know... we are moving down to Nashville part-time 😯 it’s all been quite the whirlwind, and I mean that literally as the first day we got our keys to our apartment was the day the tornado hit downtown 👌🏻 I’m hoping that’s not foreshadowing. ✨ This will be the fourth new state that Jon and I have moved to together but this one is different. I’ve been feeling a shift for the past few months, I started this feed and a lifestyle blog over three years ago but haven’t been sold on its importance. Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s been quarantine, but I just don’t find my outfits and fashion to be important enough to show all the time. Am I still going to be posting finds and fun looks? Sure! But because that isn’t the most important thing to me, I want to express that here. The most important things to me are my health, my family, and my community (wherever we are living). It’s not time to go “back to normal” because ‘normal’ wasn’t working. I believe we have seen more change in these first six months of 2020 than I have ever seen in my thirty years. Some change is a long time coming, should have happened a long time ago, and is only just beginning. The other change is still leaving people sick, without jobs, and staying home. These six months are going to be remembered, studied, and looked back on with all kinds of emotion. I’m going to be starting to post on my feed again, but that doesn’t mean I am moving on. I will still be sharing ways to help the protests, make donations, and sign petitions in my stories whenever I can. The conversation CANNOT stop! I have started with a post on the blog titled “What I’ve Learned in 2020”. When I first started writing it a few weeks ago it was going to be “What I’ve Learned in Quarantine”. I’m at a loss for words these days. Waking up to news that saddens me more and more every day. Seeing evidence that our world is infected with two viruses. One that has killed over 300,000 people worldwide and spreads by germs, and the other that infects hearts and minds. Hate. It seems to be stronger at the moment. People showing hate towards those different from them, hate for political views, and even for something as stupid as if someone has made the choice to wear a mask. The world is torn apart by so many things out of our control every day, so why is it people decide to use their thoughts and their hearts to tear each other apart? The saying repeated since COVID-19 started ravaging our country was “we are all in this together”. Yet things feel as divided as ever. We need to learn to find the space to accept what we do not know, welcome those who are different from you, and listen to those with a differing opinion. And to do so strongly enough to fight against hate, against racism, against violence, even that with words. We are all in this thing called life together. So why not spend it loving our differences instead of using them against each other?
