So the last post was… a lot, I know. But I wanted to show you the full scope of what the fashion possibilities were with this amazing sale! Did it work?

So now that I’ve had some time to process, I wanted to share some bestsellers, why they’re crucial for your closet, and how to style them. There tends to be a few pieces that stand out every year; a cardigan here, a hat there, booties everywhere? So if you’re tempted by aaalllll of the #nsale offerings, hopefully this will help narrow down your options and help clarify some style stress for you going forward.

WHEN TO START SHOPPING

1. Well, this is a bit of a trick question, because the technical answer was last Friday. BUT! that doesn’t mean you’re a lost cause. It’s tricky with the Early Access (started on the 12th) because so many items do in fact sell out either right away, or even before that! Think of it like boarding an airplane, there are a bajillion groups that get to board before the main boarding group (a.k.a. everybody)

2. If you’re going to be enjoying the Public Access, get your keyboards ready because that starts in T minus 2 days! July 19th is when the real work begins. But hopefully this post will give you the groundwork you need to be prepared to hit ‘place order’.

TIPS TO SHOPPING

1. There are far more offerings online, so if you’re hoping to get all that you can in the store itself, while you may be able to find some gems, odds are you’ll have better luck online. Especially when it comes to bestsellers being restocked. Because they will be!

2. Have your Wishlist primed and ready to go! This is a great way to be prepared for the big opening. Whether it is the Wishlist on the Nordstrom app/website, or on the LTK app! I use that bad boy allllll the time. And now that the LTK app has the yellow tabs indicating that it has an anniversary sale item in the picture, it makes it even easier to spot your targets.

3. Take advantage of the free returns that Nordstrom offers with online purchases. If you’re unsure about the size, order two sizes. The returns are so easy and if it is a piece that you truly want, then you won’t miss the window when it might already be sold out.

4. Go for staples: now is the time to find that perfect jacket that you can wear with anything, or replace those black jeans that you have worn the tail off of.

BEST SELLERS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

There are always a few standout pieces that you see everywhere! Here are a few that I have found so far.

1. Long cardigans

   TopShop always crushes it with their one, bestselling cardigan and I think this year will be no exception with the one below. But if your color-of-choice is sold out, don’t miss the other great finds below that are perfect for you next fall outfit.

2. Suede Booties

The true sign of Fall… and the perfect piece for any fall outfit! And to be honest I haven’t taken as full advantage of these insanely versatile piece as much as I should have. But this fall? Will be different! I actually just bought the second pair pictured (Sam Edelman, under $100!) and I cannot wait to start finding ways to wear them when the weather chills off.

3. Leopard print

The trend of the season. It started in the Spring and I wasn’t sure if it was going to continue through the Summer, but it looks like it is going through the Fall! Whether it’s shoes, a cute button-down, or even a jacket! This print is everywhere and it seems like it is here to stay. Some of the best sellers are already sold out, like the Something Navy leopard cardigan, the Halogen and Something Navy leopard skirt, and the BP. longline cardigan… but while they don’t typically “restock”, when people make returns that makes those pieces available again!

4. A fall (leather) jacket

Last year’s BLANK NYC was a best seller, and yes, I have it and it’s still available! But I think for fall in particular a black leather jacket is necessary. It’s so easy to throw over a dress or a summer outfit and it is instantly fall-approved.
