I have had the hardest time packing lately. Winter is the worst for traveling merely because the clothes required are so dang bulky! I mean, how am I supposed to fit my favorite oversized sweater, a staple crewneck, AND a coat?! So I’ve been doing some thinking and put together these ideas for how to pack minimally but fashionably for a winter weekend getaway.
With just these four bases, you can create more than 8 outfits! Just have to pick the finish touches for your weekend and you’re ready for your trip. To be honest, I had to put this together because I went to Chicago last week and my mind was running with outfit ideas, followed by the thought of handing over my credit card to the airline to take even more of my money. No thank you!!

JEANS + GREY SWEATER
These are staples for me in general, so finding ways to diversify one look is so fun!! This look alone has tons of different options, and odds are you have both of these essentials in your closet already. Don’t have a grey crewneck? Maybe a black one, or beige! Both would work, but I love a neutral for this so you don’t have to stress about pairing the right colors together.
SHOP STAPLE CREWNECKS
A NEUTRAL TURTLENECK
Let’s be honest, sometimes a crewneck isn’t enough, yes I love a scarf but in January sometimes you need some extra weight with a turtleneck. I love oversized turtlenecks in general whether you pair them with jeans or leggings.
What can’t you pair with leggings? I mean, really? If you want to be a super fashionista I would go with the ever popular faux leather ones from SPANX because 1. they look fantastic 2. they are incredibly comfortable and supportive 3. you can pair them with anything! I also love the Yummie shape wear because they are great to travel in and nice and thick for this cold weather.
